Summer Beauty Simple Routine

But now that summer is here, it’s time to talk about what is almost as important during the warmer months of the year as that whole UV protection thing: keeping your skin looking healthy and fresh. One way to do this is by implementing a simple skin care routine.

That’s why we put together this informative post, complete with everything you need to know about how to keep your skin looking healthy and glowing all summer long — without breaking the bank. We’ll also be giving you some extra tips to up your skincare game at home (hint: store-bought cleansers are probably not what you need).

What Does A Skin Care Routine Include?

If you’re new to the skin care game and just starting your skin care routine, it’s likely that all of the steps listed below may seem a little overwhelming. But don’t worry: a dermatologist or skin care specialist at your local beauty supply store can help walk you through what is typically included.

Here is the basic skin care routine that we recommend:

Wash your face with a gentle cleanser (a cleanser prescribed by a skincare professional can be too harsh on your skin) Remove eye makeup with a makeup remover (some people may need to use multiple products in order to completely remove all makeup) Apply moisturizer to face and neck. Applying moisturizer is really important: it prevents dryness and premature aging. Use a gentle moisturizer. Avoid using heavy, oil-based moisturizers. You want your face to look healthy, not like it’s been cooked in a grease-filled fryer. Do not use talc. It is an ingredient that has been linked to ovarian cancer. Choose products that are free from talc and other harmful ingredients. Reshape facial hair with a grooming cream (for men, this is usually preferred to shaving) Apply sunscreen or sunblock (at least SPF 30, which is recommended for everyday use). It’s crucial to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UV light.

What To Do About Your Eyes?

If you have sensitive eyes, eye-makeup removal is recommended. Start with a gentle sulfate-free cleanser and then apply a little bit of moisturizer in this area along with a few drops of rose water.
